“In civilized life, law floats on a sea of ethics.”

– Earl Warren, Chief Justice, U.S. Supreme Court

High Ethical Standards

Jane Roach Maughan has earned the highest possible rating in ethics and legal ability from Martindale-Hubbell, a national organization which has published such ratings for more than a century. She is one of few attorneys so recognized in the 270-member Monroe County Bar Association. Nationally, fewer than 5% of all lawyers hold the ‘AV’ Rating.

Mrs. Maughan travels across the state as a lecturer on legal ethics for the Pennsylvania Bar Association as part of its Continuing Education program for Pennsylvania attorneys. As an appointed member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Professional Responsibility Committee, she authors opinions and gives guidance to other Pennsylvania attorneys on ethical questions.

Jane Roach Maughan was appointed Special Prosecutor by the Pennsylvania Attorney General to investigate a Wyoming County lawyer for the theft of client funds. Her successful prosecution of the case led directly to the issuance of new law from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, imposing ethical and criminal liability on attorneys who defraud their clients.
